The ReeKross balloon catheter for Subintimal Angioplasty and Stenting of Occluded Superficial Femoral Arteries

چکیده
Following the publication of the BASIL randomised control trial of bypass surgery versus angioplasty (SIA) of the superficial femoral artery (SFA) for critical leg ischaemia, it has become justified to attempt angioplasty as a first line therapy. As the results showed equivalence in terms of limb salvage, but lower cost and length of stay in favour of angioplasty, we now routinely opt for angioplasty +/stenting for the occluded (SFA) in this clinical context. The search for more efficacious and efficient technical aids continues, and we here describe a new balloon which demonstrates many advantages over currently available ones.

Immediate and Short-term Follow-Up of Aortic Coarctation Balloon Angioplasty and Stenting
Background Aortic Coarcatation (CoA) is one of the congenital heart diseases with the rate of 5-8% of Coronary heart diseases(CHDs). Balloon angioplasty is now one of the effective way of treatment for CoA, native or Re-coarctation (Re-CoA). We aimed to assess the immediate, and short term response to angioplasty and stenting, and also complications. Materials and Methods Balloon angioplasty wi...
متن کاملSustained Benefit at 2 Years of Primary Femoropopliteal Stenting Compared With Balloon Angioplasty With Optional Stenting
Background—Primary stenting with self-expanding nitinol stents of the superficial femoral artery yielded improved morphological and clinical results compared with balloon angioplasty with optional stenting until 12 months in a randomized controlled trial. We now report 2-year data on restenosis and clinical outcomes of these patients. Methods and Results—Of 104 patients with chronic limb ischem...
متن کاملThe Biology of In-Stent Restenosis and the Rationale for Debulking
New techniques and technologies have been developed in the past several decades for the endovascular treatment of arterial occlusive disease affecting the superficial femoral artery (SFA) and infrapopliteal arteries. Dedicated stents have been extensively used to address the problem of elastic recoil, flow-limiting dissection, and residual stenosis after balloon angioplasty. Their development h...

متن کاملRandomized Comparison of Paclitaxel-Eluting Balloon and Stenting Versus Plain Balloon Plus Stenting Versus Directional Atherectomy for Femoral Artery Disease (ISAR-STATH).
BACKGROUND Atherosclerosis in the superficial femoral artery is common in patients suffering from peripheral artery disease. Paclitaxel-eluting balloon (PEB) angioplasty, stenting, and directional atherectomy (DA) have provided new options for the treatment of superficial femoral artery disease; however, the comparative efficacy of these interventional strategies remains uncertain. METHODS On...
